The Melvindale Economic Corporation (EDC) of the City of Melvindale is dedicated to improve the quality of life of the residents of Melvindale. This is accomplished through developments that generates tax dollars, jobs, and greater business opportunities and enhancement of the economic environment in the City through special projects.

The Melvindale EDC has been working with the Wayne Metropolitan Community Action Agency to develop affordable housing for moderate income residents in the East end of the City. The Kaier Woods Subdivision consists of four houses being constructed throughout the neighborhood, and 26 houses on the site of the former Kaier School. Additionally, the EDC is preparing a list of vacant residential sites for sale to contractors committed to building new houses within the City of Melvindale. The EDC is also updating the City of Melvindale Vacant Properties book, which businesses looking to locate in the City of Melvindale use.
